Today, I can say I am glad I have the surgery done. But I did not take the decision lightly and it should not be taken lightly. I waited 3 years before doing the surgery. Today I am 16 days post surgery. How am I feeling?
I am going to get my CBC checked soon...I am not as fatigue or weak so I think my blood count is normal again, so going to verify that.
There is little burning at the cut
My main problem back pain. My pain killers are finished and so I figure its time to try and go without them but I am considering getting some. If I stand to quickly my knees buckle in pain in my back. I have to rise slowly and slowly straighten myself before I begin to walk. I can however walk for a little longer than usual though slow pace.
How is recovery? Slow!!! Another reason why I would advise you not to take the surgery lightly. If you are as independent like me, it is not going to be easy. Sometimes I cried having to call my husband for what I believe is too many things. There are times I wake up and want to sweep/clean the house and cant and between my husband working, hockey, cooking, washing...it is hard for him and hard for me watching him and knowing that I cant help.
Now I am on lupron and sleeping is not as easy as before :( I stay so long to fall asleep, get some hot flashes now and then and sleeping on my back is so difficult so sometimes I switch from side to side and that is not easy either. So yes, I am glad I had the surgery done, but if you so choose remember that recovery is one day at a time for 6 weeks and sadly not one week at a time.
WOW such a major difference. with time you will be up and about. Like you stated it should not be taken lightly because the post surgery period will be difficult and should be the last resort. In my post I've written about my PCOS but am waiting for my breaktrhough as well. My eldest sister has fibroids as well and is currently taking Fibrovan. Her tummy is bigger than your pre surgery tummy. Her latest test shows that she also has an ovarian cyst and was told she will need to do surgery asap. With all these uterus issues going on with us, we keep wondering why. We are healthy eaters, we are not over weight, does not drink alcholol and lives a relative healthy life style. My close friend has PCOS as well but she is going through a tougher time than I am. Let us keep each other in our prayers.
ReplyDeleteI know...It is always strange when you think your situation is bad and there is someone who is suffering even worse. I have taken this opportunity to pray for everyone who share their situations with me whether on this blog on FB because I know it is not easy. I have to check out Fibrovan. It is the first I am hearing about it. Was it recommended by a doctor or a herbalist?
DeleteThe doctor did not recommend anything. He told her she will have to do the surgery and it was much smaller than it is now. She did not want to do it so a friend of hers who has fibroids as well recommended it to her. This is her second month taking it and she did a test about 2 we weeks ago and was told they are breaking up and it was at that time she was told she has an ovarian cyst.
DeleteOhh so it probably working...I hope it is. It is really sad that the only options for most doctors are pregnancy or surgery when there seem to be medicine out there to be tried. I guess the problem with those is that they are probably not approve by the relevant authorities. Please keep sharing for her progress and yours. There is a friend of mines who is going to ask her doctor about the Fibrovan because her aunt too was told about doing a surgery so it would be nice to hear more about it.

DeleteHey Rose-Ann, this is Lica's sister just to give an update about my cyst i did a second ultra sound and was told that it shunk 2cm and my firoids are fragmented. Thank you Lord but am still weighing out the option of surgery. Will be doing a Cat scan soon to investigate further.
ReplyDeleteThat's great news, but are you talking about an ovarian cyst or the fibroid itself. You should ask as many questions as you can. Initially, the first time I found out I had a cyst before knowing about having fibroid or endometriosis, I was given a watch and wait option and the cyst disappeared with my period, but it really depends on the type of cyst. So you might need to find out the type of cyst, if it is not the fibroid giving the trouble right now.
