It started 3 days or so after my first lupron shot. I visited my surgeon who suggested it might be a pinched nerve, but referred me to a specialist. The specialist after having me bend and lift my leg etc to diagnose the situation, prescribed some medication and give me a list of stretches I should do and asked me to see him the following week time. I returned with the same complaint telling him that once I am not on the medications, sitting, standing and walking is difficult. He referred me to a physiotherapist who I have been seeing for the last 4 weeks, but I am not seeing the changes. I walked in his office the last time in pain to give him and idea as to what I am like when I am not on painkillers. I deliberately did not take them that day. He was in shocked. He opted to increase the amount of time he is seeing me in a week. The thing is I get temporary relieved but I am still waiting to hear the cause while my financial resources are slowly depleting.
Yesterday, my repeat medication was finished and again I woke in pain. I wish I can describe it vividly enough. It is like your knees want to buckle and the joint seem to be constricted. It is terrible. So I went to the health centre and I was sent for an x-ray. So i am going to be doing that soon and hear what it is being said. My surgeon is off the island so I am awaiting his return next week to find out if it has anything to do with the endometriosis as I have seen a few articles and blogs where people are saying it may be related. Having done the surgery and being on lupron however, I am not sure what my case is, but keep me in your prayers. If there is anyone out there, who have similar situation, please let me know what it is like for you and what you have been doing about it.
Here is a link about endometriosis and hip pain http://ezinearticles.com/?Understanding-Endometriosis-Hip-Joint-Pain&id=552820
Just to take a quote from it:
"Hip pain or pain that radiates from the buttock and down the leg are common in women where endometriosis has effected the sciatic nerve. Also, endometriosis in the groin area can feel like hip pain.
On occasion endometrial adhesions can restrict the hip ligaments, causing pain and limping. Hip joint pain that worsens in a cyclical fashion in line with the menstrual cycle will usually be caused by endometriosis."
I had sciatic nerve pains a few years ago. the pain developed after one of my exercise sessions. It took a while to go away and the treatment you have been perscribed is pretty much what you have been given ie pain killers and stretches. Due to the pain I had stopped my regular excercise routine.I even changed the chair set in my house as I noticed that the couch I was sitting on seemed to worsten the pain However after a while i decided to start back aerobic exercises doing as much as I can and to use a hot water bottle on my back and the back of my leg. The pain eventually disappeared, but I cannot pinpoint what actualy caused it to disappear, but I do remeber my husband laying hands on my back and prayered earnestly for it the pain to leave after seeing me in pain tring to sit or stand or even lie down.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing. I am going to get my x-ray done tomorrow so i can find out more. I really do hope I do not have to live on pain killers as I have been doing now. I also believe in prayer also so I have been doing that. It might not easy the pain but it comforts my heart and gives me hope. Thanks again for sharing
DeleteHi Rose-Ann
ReplyDeleteI am interested to know the results of your x-ray? Do you still have your pain. I too have terrible hip and back pain almost all the time after suffering with endometriosis. I am due to have x-ray soon to rule out any other problems.
I did the x-tray and the results were normal. However, because I am still having the pain I was referred to orthopedic and it was suggest that I might possibly have to do an MRI. I should be seeing them in September as I currently out of the island. I am still on pain killers, but I can say that the pain is not as constant. Before I soon as I stop the pain killers it was difficult to stand or walk, not I would feel the pain but I can walk about and so I now take the pain killers only at the time of the pain. I would however let you know what happen when I visit the orthopedics.
DeleteHope by this time you already know what really is your condition. There are actually many causes of hip pain, and we cannot really be sure of what it is unless proper medical attention is given. download free stryker brochure
