Hip and lower back pain: Is it related to endometriosis

I am passed my 6 weeks recovery and apart from little itching at times and burning where the cut is, there is not really any pain in my abdominal region. However, I have been having some serious lower back and hip joint pain on my left side for a few weeks now; so much so that i have to live on pain killers. Although I  had a slight pain and discomfort in these areas prior to the surgery, what I am feeling now is extreme.

It started 3 days or so after my first lupron shot. I visited my surgeon who suggested it might be a pinched nerve, but referred me to a specialist. The specialist after having me bend and lift my leg etc to diagnose the situation, prescribed some medication and give me a list of stretches I should do and asked me to see him the following week time. I returned with the same complaint telling him that once I am not on the medications, sitting, standing and walking is difficult. He referred me to a physiotherapist who I have been seeing for the last 4 weeks, but I am not seeing the changes. I walked in his office the last time in pain to give him and idea as to what I am like when I am not on painkillers. I deliberately did not take them that day. He was in shocked. He opted to increase the amount of time he is seeing me in a week. The thing is I get temporary relieved but I am still waiting to hear the cause while my financial resources are slowly depleting.

Yesterday, my repeat medication was finished and again I woke in pain. I wish I can describe it vividly enough. It is like your knees want to buckle and the joint seem to be constricted. It is terrible. So I went to the health centre and I was sent for an x-ray. So i am going to be doing that soon and hear what it is being said. My surgeon is off the island so I am awaiting his return next week to find out if it has anything to do with the endometriosis as I have seen a few articles and blogs where people are saying it may be related. Having done the surgery and being on lupron however, I am not sure what my case is, but keep me in your prayers. If there is anyone out there, who have similar situation, please let me know what it is like for you and what you have been doing about it.

Just to take a quote from it:

"Hip pain or pain that radiates from the buttock and down the leg are common in women where endometriosis has effected the sciatic nerve. Also, endometriosis in the groin area can feel like hip pain.
On occasion endometrial adhesions can restrict the hip ligaments, causing pain and limping. Hip joint pain that worsens in a cyclical fashion in line with the menstrual cycle will usually be caused by endometriosis."

Diet to Help Uterine Fibroids & Ovarian Cysts

Many women experience uterine fibroids or ovarian cysts, also known as polycystic ovarian syndrome, PCOS, during their childbearing years. Uterine fibroids are benign fibrous growths that develop in the uterus, and ovarian cysts are fluid-filled pockets that develop on or in the ovaries. Both usually go undetected because they don't cause significant discomfort, but some women experience symptoms such as pain, particularly in response to hormonal fluctuations during the menstrual cycle. The actual cause of fibroids and ovarian cysts is unknown, according to the National Uterine Fibroids Foundation, but it appears that diet plays a role.

Step 1

Emphasize complex carbohydrates such as fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grain products and avoid simple carbohydrates such as white flour products. According to MayoClinic.com, women who have PCOS also have an increased risk of developing adult onset diabetes. Eating simple carbohydrate foods can raise blood sugar levels quickly and is associated with obesity. Complex carbohydrates contain generous amounts of fiber, which helps slow digestion and decrease the risk of high blood sugar. Eating more fiber also helps you eat fewer calories overall, since fiber fills you faster and fiber-rich foods are generally not calorically dense.

Step 2

Reduce your consumption of foods high in fat. Naturopathy Online explains that the hormone estrogen can cause the growth of uterine fibroids and high-fat foods place a strain on the liver. The liver is the organ that is largely responsible for processing fat and if it is overloaded it might not be as efficient. As a result, you will probably have more estrogen in your body, which can lead to additional fibroids or growth of existing ones. Additionally, a diet that is high in fat also increases your risk of obesity, which according to OBGYN.net is a risk factor for developing ovarian cysts.

Step 3

Drink water rather than beverages that contain caffeine such as soft drinks, coffee and tea. According to Naturopathy Online, caffeine is a source of naturally occurring substances called methylxanthines. These substances, according to Dr. William E. Richardson of the Atlanta Clinic of Preventative Medicine, can impair the effectiveness of certain enzymes in the body, which leads to a buildup of toxins. The toxins pool in small areas in the body and can form as cysts or fibroids. OBGYN.net recommends that you drink a minimum of 64 oz. of decaffeinated beverages daily.

Step 4

Eat dark green, leafy vegetables with lunch and dinner. Naturopathy Online explains that these vegetables, which include seaweeds, are a good source of substances such as iodine. A lack of adequate amounts of iodine in the diet has been found to be associated with the growth of fibroids. Additionally, the Atlanta Clinic of Preventative Medicine explains that dark leafy greens might help to neutralize toxins that can lead to fibroid growth. OBGYN.net recommends foods such as dark leafy greens as a source of phytochemicals. Women who have PCOS have an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, and phytochemicals, as well as phytonutrients, might help decrease this risk.

Step 5

Avoid red meat, dairy products and eggs, and instead focus on high-quality protein foods such as fish, beans, legumes and skinless white meat poultry. A diet that is low in sources of saturated fats also tends to emphasize unsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, which are heart healthy. OBGYN.net explains that women who have PCOS are at increased risk for heart disease and should focus on eating healthy fats, attaining and maintaining a healthy weight. Additionally, the Atlanta Center for Preventative Medicine explains that a diet high in saturated fats is a risk factor for developing fibroids.

Claiming back my health in Jesus' name: No more fibroids, no more PCOS, No more endometriosis

I know that we might not all be Christians, but I am and I feel the need to do this. At the start of this blog, I made a promise to myself to pray for every one who reads and post because we need divine intervention for these diseases of which no one can tell us the causes....

So father in Jesus name, I come to you my King of Kings, my Peacemaker, ,my Comforter, my Provider and my Healer and I lift every one who is reading this blog, and who have posted their situations before and I claimed back our health right now.

Lord you made us in perfection, with no sicknesses and no diseases and we know it is your will for us to be healthy and to prosper even in our reproductive health because your words said be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth. Sin has crept in and today we are faced with issues we cannot understand, but you are our almighty and powerful God and you said that by your stripes we are healed. So right now, in the name of Jesus, we come against fibroids, endometriosis, heavy and irregular menses, PCOS, ovarian cysts, cervical cancer and any other diseases of the womb those we know and those we are not aware of and we drive them back to the pit of hell from whence they came. Extend your grace towards us, Lord. We claim our healing in full right now. Strengthen us dear God and comfort our hearts as we warfare against the enemy for our children to be. Go before us their Lord and make a way. Increase our faith that we do not doubt that which we know you are able to do. Do it for us God and we thank you even know for your healing in full and our blessings that are on their way, Amen.

Have a blessed day.

Pap Smear: It might just save your life

Many times, pap smear is treated by us the same way men treat a prostate exam, but why is it recommended and how important is it? The information about pap smear is well documented and I believe well understood by many of us but a lot of women neglect to do it and others find out relevant information to be gained by it too late. Here is your an excerpt  on the importance of a pap smear:

What Problems Can a Pap Smear Detect?
“Pap smears are not designed to detect cervical cancer,” says Dr. Lancaster. “They are designed to detect cervical dysplasia, or precancerous changes [in the cervix].” When abnormal cells are detected by Pap smear, your doctor can take steps to figure out the culprit behind these changes and treat the condition before it turns into cancer.
The link above will guide you to some other important information. Having all the necessary information, the question is why do we neglect to do our pap smears? For a lot of females it is FEAR, fear that may be based on our won imagination or fear that may be based on other persons' experiences. The funny thing though is that most of the times we have nothing to fear. It is true the skill of the doctor or nursing carrying out the pap smear is of utmost importance, but most persons are generally skilled in that area and so this is hardly a problem. What makes it easy for us, is our approach.
You will hear the words to relax and not to tense and this is very important. It is quite natural for us to tense if we have preconceived notions on the supposed pain we are going to feel, but given the fact that there is no pain to be afraid of then, lie comfortably and follow the doctors instructions. It helps to think about other things than what is actually happening and not to look at the speculum that is being used . Keep in mind also that the speculum would be lubricated. Also consider that pap smear is performed on ladies who are or have been sexually active and that the speculum is most times smaller than a penis. In addition, the walls of the vagina expand and contract so much so that a baby's head come through and the speculum is much smaller. Now I know that if you bring all these factors into perspective your fear will decline.
What about the people who have described their terrible experiences to you? FORGET ABOUT THEM. Before I did my pap smear, I was so scared because of an experience a lady told me about. I lie on that table and I was so tense and had to be coaxed by the doctor until I finally relaxed. Amazingly, after the speculum was in, I didnt feel what happened after and I was told it was over. The only thing you feel is the pressure from the speculum, but even sex creates pressure. So my advice: DO YOUR PAP SMEAR. YOU KNOW HOW IMPORTANT IT IS. FOLLOW THE ADVICE OF YOUR DOCTOR WHILE HAVING IT DONE AND YOU WOULD BE FINE.

Who was my surgeon for the myomectomy?

I have chosen to place an article written about my surgeon in my blog. Very often, we are faced with the situation of who should do my surgery, are they qualified, where can I find a good surgeon. It is absolutely important that you spend some time researching and deciding on your surgery, not just because you are being cut but because your myomectomy can easily  become a hysterectomy. After I was told that my surgeon is one of the best in the Caribbean, I chose to do some research and what I have found is placed below. If you are interested in contact information or any other information, just let me know by leaving a comment.

6 weeks after abdominal Myomectomy

Hey Guys,

Just want to let you know how I am doing now. Yesterday was my 6th week after my surgery and so I can answer a few questions :)

Well first of all, I am doing so much better. My blood count is back up. I can do stretches. I am trying to get use to the scar though and would like any suggestions on cream or oil that can minimize the scar, make it invisible :) The doctor has given me right away, yesterday to get back to normal activities, including sex. I am super gracious. So those who are wondering here...I am fine :) So wait on your doctor because we do not want to tear anything that might not healed properly, but when he has given you the right away, there is really nothing to fear. It is just as before, maybe even better as there is no fibroids etc to cause extra pain so yes I am super happy.

My only issues is that LUPRON INJECTION!!! I am not having one cool day. I am sooooo hot all the time. My fan is working day and night. Right now I am writing and it is on. I cannot believe that I am going to be doing this twice in life. So for those of you with your mothers and hearing her complaining about hot flashes, don't be to hard on her. It is extremely terrible and that is not the only symptom. There is also insomnia.Night time I cannot fall asleep as quickly as I want to or sometimes just there wishing for sleep to come.

On other things, I am still seeing the physiotherapist with my lower back pain. It is still being treated as something physical. I am on medications, but if i forget to take them the pain is just extremely terrible. I am planning to discuss this with my surgeon so that he can advise me and possible do an ultrasound making sure all is well.

Blessings to all of you.

symptoms, signs and causes of a miscarriage.

For those trying to get pregnant and might wonder many times if they had a miscarriage.

Denying your needs: Is it healthy?

Last weekend, I was at the market. My husband and I went into a wholesale to get some grocery and while I was seated there, while my husband waited to collect the grocery, a little 4 year old boy sat beside me. He said "hi, do you like tomatoes," as he lifted the 3 tomatoes to show me. I was rather impressed with this little boy's bravery and even asked where his mom was. He show me her standing in line to get her groceries. From that introduction, the young child continued his conversation. He wanted to know if I like tomatoes, he wanted me to count his tomatoes and so on. I began to question him about his like for tomatoes, to which he responded no but his mom normally give them to his dad. I asked him his name and about the school he is attending. He was currently in preschool but told me he gets bigger he is going to primary school and so i mentioned then you will get bigger and you will go high school, then to university. This is what melted my heart in the conversation.... He looked at me and said that WHEN HE IS BIG HE CAN BE ANYTHING HE WANTED TO BE, EVEN A DOCTOR AND THEY WILL CALL HIM DR. JACOBS. I smiled, he had indeed made my day and he increased my desire for kids, so brave, so bold and so intelligent. Even more so, it re-emphasized to me that kids need positive parents with positive words.

It then came to me to write this blog, about denying our needs and I asked is it healthy? There are many persons who after years of trying for kids, said they no longer wanted, some even go as far as said they never wanted. When I spoke to that child that day, it was not about whether or not I was ready for kids,  but I knew that one day I would love to have kids. Maybe you might have over the years find fulfillment in other things so that your desire for kids, no longer exist, but if you still feel an emptiness in your life and every time you speak to a child or see children, this emptiness is even greater then I believe that in such cases you should not give up.

  • Think positively every step of the way, even when those around you are negative. In certain cases, you might just have to drop some old friends and pick up some new ones. Positive thinking releases stress
  • Pray earnestly. I believe that you need to place your trust somewhere and I can see no better place than in God.
  • Keep on researching. Sitting down and doing nothing does not help. It is always good to keep to up to date with relevant information. Ill be sure to add to my blog page from time to time
  • Do not get weary in the things you do to benefit your body such as exercises, healthy eating, drinking lots of water. I know that is not easy and that from time to time you may stray, but get back and try again.
  • Do not settle for one doctor's opinion. I believe this is very important because of what I have gone through. As I stated in an earlier blog, here I was going from doctor to doctor and most of them telling me about trying to get pregnant even when I asked them if the fibroid would not just get bigger and here is two other doctors who was shocked at that statement. One even asked, which doctor could have asked me to try get pregnant with a fibroid that size.
  • The final decision is always yours, but I would advise you to explore all your options before considering surgery.
  • Involve your spouse, if there is one, in your every decision. This is not a one person thing and cannot not be dealt with like that if there is someone in your life. Get him/her involved.
Have a blessed day and as I popularly read in a lot of blogs, baby dust to all of you.

Thinking about having a Myomectomy: What you should know?

Here is an interesting and very informative article that I have found. I chose it because the information presented is quite similar to what I have gone through so I can endorse much of the information. The link is at the end of the page.

Myomectomy—Open Surgery

(Fibroid Tumor Removal; Uterine Fibroid Removal)

En Español (Spanish Version)

Definition

This surgery involves removing fibroids from the wall of the uterus (womb). Fibroids are noncancerous tumors in the muscle of the uterus.
Uterine Fibroid
Uterine Fibroids
© 2011 Nucleus Medical Media, Inc.

Reasons for Procedure

Myomectomy is done to relieve problems caused by fibroids without doing a hysterectomy(removal of the uterus). These problems can include:
  • Pelvic pain
  • Back pain
  • Pressure on the bladder
  • Abnormal vaginal bleeding
  • Difficulty becoming pregnant
  • Discomfort during sexual intercourse
The symptoms caused by fibroids are often successfully controlled with this procedure. This may include a return to a normal menstrual cycle and the ability to become pregnant.

Possible Complications

Complications are rare, but no procedure is completely free of risk. If you are planning to have a myomectomy, your doctor will review a list of possible complications, which may include:
  • Bleeding
  • Surgical wound infection
  • Recurrence of fibroids
  • Damage to other organs
  • Wall of the uterus may be weakened if a large fibroid is removed
  • Reactions to anesthesia
  • Need for special precautions in pregnancy (eg, need to deliver by cesarean section)
  • Pelvic adhesions that can cause pain and/or bowel blockage
  • Problems found during surgery that make removal of the uterus necessary
  • Severe scarring, resulting in infertility
Factors that may increase the risk of complications include:
Be sure to discuss these risks with your doctor before the procedure.

What to Expect

Prior to Procedure

Your doctor may do the following:
  • Physical exam
  • Blood tests
  • Review your medicines
  • Dilation and curettage (D&C) —a procedure to remove tissue from the lining of the uterus (endometrium)
  • Ultrasound—shows images of pelvic organs
  • Intravenous pyelogram —x-rays taken of the kidneys, ureters, and bladder after a contrast medium is injected into a peripheral vein (done if the fibroids are affecting the ureters)
You should discuss with your doctor:
  • Whether you should have hormone treatment for 2-4 months before the procedure—This treatment shrinks fibroids. It makes them small and reduces the risk of excess blood loss during the procedure.
  • If cancer is found in the uterus—One option is to remove the uterus during the myomectomy.
  • Whether you should donate your own blood for the procedure
Leading up to your procedure:
  • Talk to your doctor about your medicines. You may be asked to stop taking some medicines up to one week before the procedure, like:
  • Arrange for a ride home from the hospital. Also, arrange for help at home.
  • Do not eat or drink for at least eight hours before the procedure.

Anesthesia

General anesthesia is used most often. It will block any pain and keep you asleep through the surgery. It is given through an IV in your hand or arm.

Description of the Procedure

The doctor will make an incision in the lower abdomen. Muscles will be separated, and tissue will be cut to expose the uterus. Next, the doctor will remove the fibroids. In some cases, you will be given a drug called Pitressin before the fibroid is removed. This drug will reduce the amount of blood loss.
After removing the fibroids, the doctor will stitch each layer of tissue in the uterus. This will prevent blood clots, excess bleeding, and infection. Lastly, the doctor will use stitches to close the incision area.

Immediately After Procedure

After the procedure, you will be:
  • Taken to the postoperative area
  • Watched for complications
  • Given IV fluids and medicines

How Long Will It Take?

1-2 hours

Will It Hurt?

You will have abdominal pain and discomfort for 7-10 days. Your doctor will give you pain medicine to help control the pain.

Average Hospital Stay

2-3 days

Post-procedure Care

Full recovery will take about 4-6 weeks. When you return home, do the following to help ensure a smooth recovery:
  • Be sure to follow your doctor's instructions .
  • Wear sanitary pads or napkins to absorb blood. The first menstruation after the procedure may be heavier than normal.
  • Try to walk often. This will decrease the risk of blood clots.
  • Take medicines as prescribed by your doctor. If you had to stop medicines before the procedure, ask your doctor when you can start again.
  • Ask your doctor about when it is safe to shower, bathe, or soak in water.
  • Ask your doctor when you will be able to:
    • Return to work and drive
    • Resume sexual activity
    • Resume strenuous activity (You may need to wait 2-6 weeks.)

Call Your Doctor

After you leave the hospital, contact your doctor if any of the following occurs:
  • Signs of infection, including fever and chills
  • Redness, swelling, increasing pain, excessive bleeding, or discharge from the incision site
  • Excessive vaginal bleeding (soaking more than one pad per hour) after the procedure
  • Excessive vaginal discharge that continues beyond one month after the procedure
  • Vaginal discharge has a foul odor
  • Severe abdominal pain
  • Headaches, muscle aches, dizziness , or general ill feeling
  • Nausea, vomiting, constipation , or abdominal swelling
  • Pain and/or swelling in one or both legs
  • Fibroid symptoms return after the procedure
  • Cough , shortness of breath, or chest pain
  • Pain, burning, urgency or frequency of urination, or persistent bleeding in the urine
  • New, unexplained symptoms
In case of an emergency, call for medical help right away.

Why Me? Issues of the Uterus

There are so many questions that come to your mind when you find out something is wrong, but I think the most common one is "Why me/Why me Lord." I looked back at my life and it seems like at every stage, there was something wrong, something always happening and I found myself wondering, Why me? When you are bombarded by various issues, the pain, the stress, the depression, the mood swings, wondering if you will ever be able to give your husband a child and blaming yourself if you are unable to, there is a big question Why me?

I have stopped asking myself that question for a long while now. It is a question with no answer and it only leads to more stress and maybe even depression. I have channeled my energy into positive thinking. I view my situation as small especially after listening to or reading about other persons situation. I looked at the blessing in my life and I enjoy the happiness and joy that comes from those.

Have you ever found yourself blaming God for your situation as you asked why me? It always seem easier to blame the one who can touch your situation and change it all, rather the cause of the situation in the first place. But when I searched the word I found these scriptures:

Psalm 113:9 He gives the barren woman a home, making her the joyous mother of children.Praise the LORD!

Psalm 127:3-5  Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate

Genesis 1: 28 And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

Psalms 128:3-5 Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your children will be like olive shoots around your table. Behold, thus shall the man be blessed who fears theLord. The Lord bless you from Zion! May you see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life.

Genesis 25: 21-22 And Isaac prayed to the Lord for his wife, because she was barren. And the Lord granted his prayer, and Rebekah his wife conceived. The children struggled together within her, and she said, “If it is thus, why is this happening to me?” So she went to inquire of the Lord.

Maybe there is a warfare going on with some of us regarding our womb. Some times you look at the many children born outside of wedlock and the contrary way they live and you looked at how many babies are born to parents who do not have the resources or the ability care for children yet it is so easy for them, what is wrong with us? I tell myself, the devil is trying his best to limit the amount of righteous children that is born and so there is a warfare and it is up to us to lay our hands upon our loins and pray daily so that God will bless us because he desires to heal us and grant us the desires of our heart. So do not think that children is not for you, let us fight the good fight and claim that which belongs to us. Be blessed. .

What kept me going in the hospital as I awaited my myomectomy

Yesterday or last night rather I decided to share some videos, one of which was a success story of a lady with PCOS. It was just to encourage our hearts, that there is hope. Before you do any surgery or treatment, there are always a lot of questions and that is why I have this blog and encourage persons to post so that we can hear about your experience and answer some of our very own questions. What was the surgery like? How was it after? How soon did you have sex after? How long did you wait till you start trying? Keep following and I would keep publishing. It only takes one person to share and it would reach 10 thousands. Today I want to share a bit more about the things that kept me going while I laid in the hospital bed awaiting surgery. I am quite aware that all my readers might not be  Christians, but I am sure all can benefit from Christianity.

While on the bed, I had my bible with me and a small book. I took the book and I wrote down these following declaration and I repeated them daily up to the point of my surgery:

  • I declare that I shall not die but live to declare the word of God. I believe I am doing that even now through my testimony
  • I declare the surgery would be safe and successful in the name of Jesus
  • I declare that I would have no need for blood transfusion following the surgery.
  • I declare that no side effects would occur during or after the surgery
  • I declare that I am strong in the Lord and the Power of his Might.
  • I declare that I am healed from all past, present and future fibroids.
  • I declare that I would have many children as the Lord will give me.
  • I declare that no weapon formed against me shall prosper.
You would realize that these declaration has no structure or organization because I wrote them as they came to my mind. I ended it all by repeating Psalms 121 " I will lift up my eyes unto the hills from whence cometh my help, it cometh from the Lord which made heaven and earth..."

While I laid there too, this came to me and it was not apart of my written declaration but it came in my prayer. I asked the Lord that he show the surgeon all that is wrong with me even though the surgery was to removed fibroid and I wasn't told anything else was wrong, but somehow I felt the need to say that. At the end of the surgery when I was visited by the surgeon and I was told that I also had endometrioisis and ovarian cyst, which they removed also, I bless the Lord. We don't know everything and there are times when we are misdiagnose or certain things just do not show up on the many tests we run. I have had friends who died of cancer because they doctor misdiagnose the situation. I believe with all my heart that God sees and knows everything and we must all put our trust in him when it comes to our health.

If you have any questions you might want to ask, there is a FIND US ON FACEBOOK on my blog, you can send a message on my page. Thanks you and remember to like the page, rate the blog and share it with your circles and friends.

Tired of doctors

I am so tired and fed-up of visiting the doctor. Yes, that is how I feel at times and I am sure I am not alone. Visiting the doctor is great but there are times that you feel like you live in a doctor's office and the problem is not just that. The main problem starts when you are being referred to one doctor, who referred to the next and the chain continues without you getting much help, even though you are spending a lot of money because everybody is a specialist in something. As women, we cannot get away from the doctors, that much we know, but it can become very overbearing when you are faced with an issue that the doctors are trying to diagnose or you are looking for answers/directions as to what you should do and not getting satisfactory information. Are you like that? How are you coping? Where does your strength lies?

4 weeks 4 days after myomectomy to remove fibroid

How am I feeling?

Every step closer to recovery make me quite contented that I have made the decision to have the myomectomy. Yes I am!! I am walking uprightly now and faster and I can even do housework. Yesterday I cooked. Today I cleaned. Now housework is not really a look forward too, but when you can feel your body regaining its strength and energy so much so that you can do these things then it tells you that you are recovering nicely. I also enjoy looking at my tummy. It is sooo much flatter.

I had a pinched nerve sometime ago from starting it too quickly I suppose, so it is very important that you are cautious when getting back on your feet especially when the six weeks recovery is not up. I am presently seeing a physiotherapist and I believe it is helping. I still cannot stand long and have to do the housework at intervals but I am doing it.

What about the Lupron shot? Well let me say that I truly understand what hot flash is and it is not simply feeling hot or warm or whatever the sun normally does. No, no, no .... If you have to constantly sit next to your fan, feel like you want to get out of your own skin because the heat is within your body forcing its way out, then maybe you understand hot flash. Even now, listening to other people's story, I know that what I am feeling is minute when compare to their experiences, but for me at times it is momentous and the only good thing is the force with which it may come is not constant. It tends to come in waves although you might always feel warm.
I am still waiting for it to affect my sex drive though, which I wish it will do seeing that I have 2 more weeks to go before getting the right away.

Let me take this opportunity to all those persons who inbox me on facebook, telephone me, like my facebook page and is following the blog. I would like to especially thank those who posted their situations. I know not everyone would want to do it especially since it means opening up to the world and letting them know what is happening with you, so for those of us who are willing to, I am grateful because I know, just by watching the number of persons reading the blog and their location that our issues are global and many are searching for answers. I will continue to encourage persons to comment and post your struggles and success story as it may just help one to make a decision they are struggling with or get help.

Sex after Myomectomy

I listened to the doctor and nurses telling me after my surgery NO SEX!! and I smiled and said the way I am feeling now I do not even want to be touched. I meant every word of it. I could not walk up right, I had to hold my husband's hand as I walked, I was moving slowly, my body was weak and sore, I couldnt laugh or cough...where was sex in that equation?

2 1/2 weeks after, I was again reminded by my surgeon, no sex. I laughed then. At that time i had my first Lupron shot and I have already read about your body going into menopause and so desire for sex was at a minimal. Did i consider my husband in all this? Of course, but he felt he could make it. His concern for my health and my progression back to normality, I guess have numb every other part of him.

It has been a little over 3 weeks with just about 3 weeks to go and the lupron did not quite kick in as I thought it would. I have some minor hot flashes and I was told I should have a period, but you know those feelings you get leading up to your period...My Lord!! 6 weeks no longer seem like a breeze because I am married, still very young in the marriage thing and ...Well I started reading blog about other people who wanted to know how soon after myomectomy you can have sex and I can tell you some people wanted to know within 2 weeks of their surgery. I guess we did good, but it is not an easy thing. So with 3 weeks to go, I have to find all the things I can do to keep myself busy in body, mind and spirit so I wouldn't think about sex. So yes people, when considering surgery, consider the absence of sex for some time.

A blog of encouragement for those suffering with fibroid and other uterus issues: You need to read this!

This morning as I left up in prayer all those who have posted, commented or even read my blog page, especially those who are suffering with fibroid, endometriosis, PCOS and other issues of the uterus, I felt compelled to write this blog.

There is no one else who can understands you like we do. We who have gone through and felt what is is like to be changing pads more than 4 times in a day, who have to be careful how we sit lest we shift things in the wrong way, we who have felt the pain and pressure of issues, we who have been emotionally scarred and abused simply by what we are going through, we who wished we had a break from out periods and now we wish we can have it every month...We all might not endure all of the above but we have endured some so we understand.

Let me encourage you. DON'T GIVE UP HOPE! Hope is the essence of us living and striving for better. When we lost hope, there is a tendency for us to sink into a state of depression. Have you ever look at a child and say to yourself, i am too old , it is too late for me and all the other reasons you tell yourself even though every molecule of your body desire to have  a child. Have you ever felt like removing your entire uterus just to get rid of all the issues you are facing once and for all? We are in a state where we are faced with tough decisions and if hope leave us we might make the WRONG decisions. Maybe my situation is different from you because I believe and trust in God, knowing that he will grant me the desires of my heart. I found though that my hope, which is pretty much based on my trust in God has grant me certain benefits. Here are some benefits of staying hopeful:

  • I am comforted in my mind and spirit knowing that I will achieve my desires
  • Stress is reduce because I keep optimistic and there is no negative energy in my body
  • I strive to live a healthier lifestyle because my HOPE is telling me that if I am going to achieve these things I need to do these things
  • I am happy and always smiling as I await my fulfillment and as a result those around me are happy and comforted.
  • I leave no way for negative talks eg. too old for children, i would not be healed, it was never meant to be, children is not for everybody, my husband will leave me for barrenness. In fact I rebuke persons who whether knowingly or unknowingly deposit negative thoughts in my head.
  • I continue to read articles and blogs because of my hope that one day Ill find the right solutions to my problems.
Now check yourself, tell me how you are feeling and what you have been doing or stop doing and then I can tell you if you have lost hope and needs to rebuild it. Have a blessed night.
